Thanks to these brutally romantic images from Andrew Ward, who had this to say about them:

“I took the photos on 19th August 2014 at the beach in Aldeburgh, Suffolk – I’d dragged the family on a pilgrimage to Orford Ness to explore Thomas Dolby’s “Invisible Lighthouse” (https://vimeo.com/92960064) and we happened upon this scene on the way back to our hotel.”

I think we will one day tell our grand children about the time when we were disposing of pianos wholesale, leaving them on street corners, to be found, as rescue pianos in train stations, even given the honour of sea burials.

Whilst we’re normalised to turning a corner only to find a homeless piano begging to be played would it not be weird if our streets, stations and beaches were littered with harps, or Tubas?
