Highly appreciable piano; lovely sound and unique twist
As others are saying, this really is a beautiful, well-balanced piano sound that is marvellously captured. It is criminal that this is free. The quality of the proccessing through tape gives the instrument a subtle, vaguely nostalgic sense - not like visiting your hometown after years away, but perhaps seeing a photograph of it. It's intangible.
Evidently, the 'For Airports' patch is inspired by Brian Eno, and while the notes seem to always play in order of ascending pitch (for me anyway), which doesn't produce exceptionally unique "randomised" compositions, but the tone and rhythmic sparseness definitely give it the same "spiritual" quality of Eno's work. It's great.
We all have between 5 and 20 piano instruments, and probably use 3 or less. Get this one and try it. I think you'll find you'll be adding a new one to your core arsenal. I will ;)
Unique texture, lovely sound
The title of my review basically says all I need to say.
This is a really nicely recorded sound that adds a lovely, distinct character as a background texture. The rhythmic nature of the sounds do lack transitions, so it's a bit fickle (for me) to get transitions between notes sounding clean and not abrupt, which would be my ideal, number 1 improvement to seek for it, but I can hardly complain overall.
Great sound, appreciably stands out as one-of-a-kind, and a good bit of variation with a few different sounds to play with (mapped to different parts of the keyboard within the ne instrument).
Bravo!Haunting Indeed, but beguilingly so
I finally get to use the word! Hey Christian, I hope you're watching!
Regarding this instrument, it really does possess a unique, ambient-but-rich character. The drones and the main are sweetly interdependant; they work very well together as a duo, but can totally strut their stuff on their own if need be. Though "strut" might be the wrong word, it more be a like a slow, haunting dance across a deserted ballroom. The GUI and functionality is thorough and gives opportunity for a variety of different timbres, especially edgier ones with that distortion that's included, yuck! (And by that I mean YUM!)
It may be worth looking into that I personally couldn't get the step sequencer working for me, but I wouldn't be suprised if that's down to user error or ignorance. I'm special that way, me ma would always say.
Great stuff, looks as good as it sounds, insane that it's free. Amen.
What you see is what you get (and it's good)
I really enjoy the sound of this instrument. It is easily workable into trailer-type music, or your sci-fi "big spaceship is landing time for big vroom vroom music sound" moments. The quality is high, and while ADSR controls would be nice, I'm happy with this as a free instrument.
Pleased with the download to be sure! Next stop, bendy bowow town!
Just different enough to be worth a little try
This wee little instrument brings a very "human" touch of this fun little aerophone. The slightly inconsistencies of tone and minute audio artifects willl understably be undesirable for many users (can we start calling ourselves "Bookers"? Y'know, because, "Pianobook"? Eh, eh?), especially for more professional scores. But for the quickest sketches or when looking for a "rustic" quality of horn, this sits comfoprtably in that niché! Simple, and not able to be demanded of much more than what you get on the surface, but appreciable mix of longs and nice short sounds! Woo!
