The story

Recently, I purchased a Zither on Facebook Marketplace. I do intend to do a deep sampled instrument with round robins and possibly several velocity layers, but in the mean time, I thought I’d see what one single sample could so. This is the result. I think it’s a really nice sound. The instrument is mapped from C1 to C6, which seems the natural range I could stretch from the single F5 sample. Once cleaned and possibly restrung (maybe just tuned!) I will look into doing a decent job of it!

The basic .dspreset file structure is from Florian Hirschmann’s ‘The Lamp’ from Pianobook.co.uk (https://www.pianobook.co.uk/packs/the-lamp/) which I have used for several instruments.

If you use this instrument in your work, please do comment here or drop me an e-mail: steve (at) sonuslucis (dot) com
