The story
I purchased this piano about 4 years ago. After decades of practicing on a Yamaha U3 upright ( which is a great piano for a NYC apartment because of the Una Corda pedal), I wanted to own a 7.5 foot instrument and also have it with the Disklavier system built in. Used DC7’s are rare and I saw one for sale on eBay. I noticed that it was for sale at a shop not far from NYC and that a classmate from High School was the manager there. So I went out and played it, loved it and purchased it. Fortunately, no one in my building complained about the noise while I lived there.
The piano is from 2000 and it has an updated DCK 850 controller. The Disklavier is not perfect but it is useful. One thing is that this piano has an amazing bass register and when played softly, the midrange has an almost choir like sound. I sampled this piano at PP and MP levels using the Earthworks Piano Mic system with the lid closed.

Great piano
I absolutely love a piano with the lid closed. This library does a perfect job of capturing the warmth and character and in your face sound that sitting in front of a piano renders. Great! The only downside is the GUI doesn't load, oh well.
Very nice but not my favorite
This is a nice and useful piano library but ut just feels kind of lacking in character compared to others on the site. I know sometimes you dont always want a piano with alot of character but personally, i usually do. I think the low end is pretty powerful and i like the attack of the note but again, there are many other pianos on pianobook i would reach for before this one. Its still not bad by any means though. I feel like everyone has slightly different taste when it comes to pianos
Just a super basic piano
I got some missing file errors which I couldn't manage to fix, but it seems that at least every key is working properly. It's a nice sounding piano, very barebones if you'd like. If you like using the sustain pedal for long holds, you might listen to some noise that builds up that way. If you are looking for something to play around, this will be more than enough.
A Solid piano
This piano is playable, and has a very full sound. The dynamic response is pretty good, really. There's a fair amount of noise in the samples which really piles up in a bad way if you use the damper pedal. I can't say exactly what it is, but either the selection of mics or the positioning of the mics isn't quite what I'm looking for in a piano. The mids just seem too present. The stereo image doesn't feel balanced. It feels like it leans heavily to the left. I think my biggest problem with this library is that I feel like I'm playing a recording of a piano, and not playing a piano when I'm playing it. I know that's not very concrete feedback, but that's the best way to describe it. However, just because this isn't my taste doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a try. You might absolutely love it.
A basic piano
Something about it makes it lack life. Just doesn't feel real or personal to play. Not bad by any means though. I actually rather like the higher octaves.
