The story
There is a place not too far from where I grew up that we would travel to often, somewhere I still try to get to every now and again when I can, that contains an array of odd trinket shops and stalls that have all manner of sound-making devices. When I was very young my parents bought a set of wind chimes for the house and now, every time there is a strong breeze about, my ears instinctively listen out for the sound of the bells in my memory. Returning home recently, I got the chance to sample these wind chimes along with many other small bells, cymbals and bowls that have come from that same town. Now, all I have to do is hold down A-1 and I can feel my mind rushing back to those childhood days spent watching the hot breeze blow the wind chimes about, the sound combining together in a surprisingly calming way.
This library tries to make the most out of these sounds. There is a playable range of keys (C3-C5) for chords and melodies, including the option for original tuning or tuned bells. There are individual hits, tremolo style hits, cymbals, bell jangles and even healing bowl drones. The bowl can also be tuned by the key switches below, tuning the felt and wood mallet hits and the drone as well. Combined with some interesting effects, it creates an unusual and, to me, nostalgic sound, like watching a home video on VHS that has the chimes playing in the background.
I hope you enjoy.
Cheers, Steve.
