The idea came when I heard a Caterpillar machine working near my house. The work it did produced a metallic, birdy sound. I recorded and expanded to several seconds.
The preset Original is the original sound. Granular is this sound being processed by Emergence FX. Both of this presets are atonal. To make the 5 remaining tonal presets
I used Vital. There are two versions of FM, and one Staccato. The final 2 presets are a combination of low pass filters and comb filters processing the sound. The result
was very hard, heavy metal-like style. Here is a demo using two presets:
