The story

Sometimes the simplest instruments work best.

Inspired by the soundtrack to Alex Garland’s DEVS by Ben Salisbury, The Insects, and Geoff Barrow, this very economical Kontakt instrument is a multi-sampled choir pad with me singing “D”s across my full range.

I find this is best played in haunting minimal tight clusters a la Whitacre.

Recorded into an AKG C1000S, edited in Logic and Adobe Audition.

  • Really love this sound.

I find this 'choir' highly inspiring. For me it hits the perfect balance of intimacy, uniqueness and tone. Ash, if you're considering recording more phonemes, I'd be the first in line!

  • Works beautifully

...It works and sounds so fine. I only wish there was more range and vowels to play with.

  • Awesome

This is such a great Idea, I have been fan of Alex Garlands work for some time now, and of course, the audio and music team he's worked with for years, and many projects. The music in those works is so unique fundamental to the vibe of the works, so building an instrument that puts these sounds right in your hands is a great call! I wish there were more popular-media-inspired packs!

  • Nice and warm choir but needs some tweak to use

The sound is nice. It has D sound, so I found it a bit difficult use this library alone as a choir. If it was lowered and mixed with other choir library, I think it will add some texture to them.
