The story
In May 2023, I visited Florence with my now-girlfriend to tell her I loved her. We stayed for a few days in a cozy AirB&B, and it turned out the host was a well-known pianist. There were two pianos in the apartment, one of which was in our bedroom.
After a long day of walking around, eating amazing food, and taking in the beauty of the city, I finally asked her if she would be my girlfriend. Her answer? “Duh, of course.” It was the happiest I’ve ever felt.
That night, while she was in the shower getting ready for bed, I took the chance to quickly sample the Yamaha U1 piano in our room with the Zoom H1 I brought along. I didn’t want to disturb the neighbors or seem too strange, so I kept it simple—no round robins, just one dynamic, and wide intervals. It’s nothing fancy, but it means a lot to me.

My Grandma's Old Piano
Oh my God, I'm freaking out right now. You found it! Somehow in Florence you found a carbon copy of the Yamaha my Grandma had in her front room until the day she died. it's probably been ten years, and I hadn't realized how much that old thing meant to me. It's funny, it did such a good job transporting me back in time, I instinctively thought the F3 was going to stick. Wow, that was a trip! Thanks!
