The story
I was composing channel ident for finnish TV channel somewhere around 2010 and I bought this guitar for playing some riffs and noodles to project, Because of pushed deadline, I ended up using my more familiar 6 string. However I needed sampled guitar sound without baked in effects for re-amping and sculpting my own sound.
Clean 8string guitar has good long decay and clean pickups. Guitar is recorded straight to old trusty Steinberg MR816x Hi-Z input for cleanest possible sound.
This time I only sampled one velocity/intensity with 5 round robins on every note! Maybe got too far with this, but why not. Some famous guitarist said once: “People say less is more. How can less be more? More is more!”

Playable and unique guitar
This sample library features five! round robins, and a great instrument which is well played. There are some significant intonation issues in the lowest register, which the library's creator noted. It would have been great to have done some work in Melodyne before putting the sample in Kontakt. I was also left wishing for some additional velocity layers which i think would have brought more life to this instrument. Although a huge range of notes were sampled, the instrument comes across as a little "sampley" and I think that a few different velocity layers could have gone a long way. Even so, it's a great instrument the way it is, and a worthy download.
Sounds like a synth-guitar...
For an instrument that sizes almost half a gigabyte, I was really expecting a more realistic guitar with some dynamics. To me though, this sounds like a semi-realistic synth guitar, which is not really that dynamic, and suffers from a very fast release time that won't let it resonate, which can be very hard to deal with. The 5 round robbins are great, kind of hard to realise due to the release issue. This is also a very barebones patch.
As a final note, it might be slightly better for me if the entire keybed was shifted one octave upwards by default, to match a more natural position, since sometimes you need to switch instruments and you can't constantly change the octave settings.
Very Synthy
As i guitar player i would never use this. It just sounds extremely fake to me. There are some guitars on pianobook that even if i think they sound unrealistic playing wish i still think they have a really beautiful tone or an interesting thump at the beginning of the sample. But with this library i dont even like the tone of the guitar. It has a very mid scooped nasal sound which is usually paired with some distortion but here im just not a fan. Its really cool that you sampled five round robins but no dynamic layers adds to this synthy unrealistic quality even more. I think it would have been more worth while to do 3 dynamic layers and 3 round robins as opposed to five round robins and no dynamic layers. You get some string buzz and natural guitar artifacts sometimes which is nice. Im just really not into this but i hope others enjoy it. I think it ould be fun to try to turn it it to something completely unrecognizable with sound design.
