The story

I created two 8-bit Chiptune instruments for an indie film project about a decade ago, but I ended up not using them.

The original instruments were sampled at tritone intervals. Those intervals would have been fine for the quality I needed for the project, but not good for other purposes.

I decided to update the instruments before making them available to other musicians. Specifically, I wanted to improve the quality, so I resampled all 50 available pitches from the sound source which is an Atari 8-bit computer.

If you have ever played eighties video games like Frogger, you should instantly recognize the included instruments’ timbres.

Using these instruments, you can play some video game music from the 1980s, or you can just write your own.
