The story

Hofner bass DI’d into a UA Solo/610 and cranked on a Land Devices EP-5. High velocity triggers some slappy slappy.

  • Great sound. I could use it in any song

To me it sounds more like a synth than a real bass. Nevertheless I love its character.

  • it's 1979, and a low slung bass line

If played Bass in 1979 in a post-punk band, I would have wanted to sound like this all the time. Its a great instrument, it can be the full FU, and cut through any amount of other racket, or delicate. It's got a gritty snarl, which complements my just learned to play attitude. It's great for long slung basslines with 2 or three notes

  • Simple, but perfect in its simplicity

If you're looking for a well recorded, highly playable bass sound for rock and indie productions, this is pretty much the first library you should download. The sample is even all across the range, musical, very playable velocity layers hit just like you'd expect, samples are well edited, and the library's timbre changes in response to velocity just like you'd hope. This is a really great bass sample pack! Super well done!

  • Bass is the Place

If I was the owner of a Hohner I'd hone my tones like this beauty. Strictly restricted to the range of the instrument it offers every wannabe Post-Punk bassist the chance to dance out of our constrictions. This is an experience in sample form, I dig it, David.

  • A nice simple bass is a good bass

A very nice sounding bass patch, that is very nice to play on and nicely recorded - except for the top velocity layers that could greatly benefit from noice reduciton. Speaking of velocity, it sounds very weak at first, but that's because it is very dynamic, so you need to keep that in mind. The more you push it, the more it provides. Even if you fully increase the volume, it won't peak so you are good to go. The range goes from a low D to a high E.

The GUI offers no settings, so it's up to your assets and your imagination to shape the sound in case you want any tweaks.
