The story

I went to my grandparents’ house to record their old upright piano, a Karl Schultz. This instrument has belonged to my grandmother since 1950 and to a pianist from Buenos Aires before her.

My goal with this recording was to capture the warm, immersive sound of an old, slightly out-of-tune piano. The blend of muted notes and hammer sounds inspired a homely, cozy feeling, which I enhanced by adding the sound of book pages that I recorded myself in the library of the same house.
Soon after, my cat wandered over, purring, and I couldn’t resist recording her and including her sound in the library.

The result is a warm piano that invites you into a cozy home where the sounds of book pages and a cat’s purring become part of the soundscape, inspiring tranquility and creativity.

“Algodón Piano” is the second library in the “Algodón” collection, which aims to craft instruments whose tones transport us to a place, a cherished memory, or perhaps even a dream.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed recording it!

Felipe Miño.

  • Un piano interesante!

Muy bueno! Solo me faltan los samples de release y pedal para realmente sentir el piano. Grande Felipe!
