The story

This instrument was my first attept of sampling an instrument with Kontakt. The guitar which was used here was the exercise instrument of my uncle when he was young and lasted most of his life on the attic of my parents house until it found the way to my place.

It’s a guitar of the company “Otwin” and with its cracks in the top and other damages it looks like it feels comfortable with being played at a campfire. However, it has almost a jazzy sound when played. Other than that the sampled Kontakt patch is rather sounding like a harp, at least when played with a typical piano keyboard.

  • Great raspy guitar

Has that raspy character, wouldn't call it a jazzy guitar tho. But I love its sound

  • Best Guitar on Pianobook.

Ill start by saying that as i guitar player i would never use this. Without little slides, hammer ons and the metallic sound of the finger scraping against the string these kind of instruments will always sounds unrealistic to me. With that said this is definitely one of the best acoustic guitar libraries ive heard. It has alot of imperfections and nuance which gives it a lot of character. Things like string noise and vibrato sound really nice here. Its also really deeply sampled and well recorded adding to the realism even more. Like i said before, i almost think of it as a legato cello patch. You can get away with a good sounding legato line on a sample library but its impossible to capture the emotion and all the unique articulation that a live player would be able to. Theres still that extra notch of realism that cant really be achieved with samples for certain instruments. I think the guitar is the hardest instrument to make sound realistic but this is still a great instrument and one of the best ive heard.

  • A fantastic classical guitar!

A nicely sampled guitar with a great sound, and it would be serously perfect with some slight noise reduction. There is noise is mostly audible when the notes are sustained, but in general it plays amazingly well. The dynamic layers are fantastic and the overall sound is very well captivated. I find the release time a little faster that I'd like, but it might be just right for you. If you are looking for a classical nylon guitar, this is it!

  • Nylon string guitar with deep sampling

This sample pack presents a nylon string guitar which is pretty deeply sampled. Featuring three round robins and five! velocity layers per note, this sounds really real. There are a few little quirks to this instrument. The occasional string buzzing, etc. but it only adds to the realism. This instrument is presented in mono and completely dry both of which make it less palatable right off the bat, but far more usable long-term. This sample pack is well-recorded and very playable. Another hidden gem of the Piano Book website!
