The story
We know, we know, we know. Not another piano?!
Then again, why not!
Baldwin Grand is different from other piano libraries on pianobook. And different is good, right?!
Several years ago we sampled a church’s 9′ Baldwin Grand piano shortly after it was tuned. Only one Velocity level was recorded; Forte. No Round Robins were created. Can’t even remember what mics were used. BUT … the samples are LOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG!
If you listen carefully, you can hear some very quiet background/street noise on a few notes, but it’s very quiet. You certainly aren’t likely to hear it when playing the piano normally.
With only one Velocity layer and no Round Robins, you aren’t likely to use Baldwin Grand in a solo situation where you’re looking for ultra realism. Still, we find there is something quite real and natural sounding about the library.
Take it for a spin and see what you think. And do let us know if you find it useful in some way!
