The story
For years I’ve been dragging my feet trying to capture the idea of sampling “performances,” deconstructing them, reconstructing them, and then making them playable. Some of my earlier submissions touch on this idea. Well, now that it seems the sampling industry started moving in the direction of capturing performances, rather than holding back “perfecting” the ideas I have, I’m just going to release them.
Here we have a happy little fiddle performing in D. Although it’s a one-trick pony, it is detailed, intimate, imperfect, and alive. As long as you’re playing in the key of D, this little fiddle will be happy. The modwheel controls dynamics. It was sampled at 120 bpm, and will tempo sync to your DAW, though the rhythm can be a little wonky at times.
This is a work-in-progress. In a full ideal version, there would be selectable patterns, ways to adjust the key on the fly, control over the human aspects I added, and samples from a professional fiddler.
But until then, here’s what we have. Enjoy!
